To Summ-it All Up...

It's really here! I can't believe that in a couple days, I will actually be starting my AT hike!! I have dreamed of and planned this hike for so long, that it doesn't seem real!  However, I am sure that by a hundred miles in, a few blisters, and burning calves it will definitely have sunk in just how real it is!! 😂😂😂

Below is my gear picture.  Minus my trekking poles and my food bag. But this is basically what I will be carrying for the next 5 months (or so)!!

Helping me spray my hammock and a few clothes with insect repellent!

Date night with my mom:)

This past weekend I was in Morris for Taylor & Amanda's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and Amanda was a gorgeous bride!! It's still kind of crazy to think she is married now!:)

The three musketeers!!  I truly don't know life without these girls! I was recently looking through a bunch of old pictures and found one from when we were much younger! :)

I stayed with Kevin & Nikki and spent Sunday hanging out with Nikki & Emma!! Emma is 9 months as of this week!! Its crazy how quickly she is growing and its fun to start to see her personality come out!

I am really thankful that I have such an awesome roommate, co-worker, and friend!! Praying for her this week as she leaves house parenting and transfers over into Home-Based!  She has dedicated almost 6 years to house parenting, which is truly incredible and inspiring! She is also always up for adventuring wether it be going to the railroad tracks, camping up in Michigan, or completing a Questival down in Louisville! And I am super excited that she is going to be starting my new adventure alongside me!!

Already missing my little apprentice! Aliza somehow always knew when I would be in the kitchen making something.  She would push a stool....errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt.....all the way over to the stove to watch me. (That was the sound of the stool scraping across the floor) 😂

A few weeks ago I got the privilege of going back down to South Carolina for a week with Harvest Call.  It was another incredible week!! One of my favorite parts was being able to go to church with the family I met last year!

Another really exciting part happened when we were cleaning up and burning the ruble of a trailer. If you look below, you can see that it was a decent sized fire....what we didn't realize was that there was an oxygen tank for welding in that beautiful fire! All of a sudden there was a loud hissing sound and some really bright light. We thought something was going to blow....but nothing happened. It just kept hissing.  So what is the next logical steps? Exactly....you move closer to inspect it and see if you can figure out what the cause is!  After an inspection of the fire, video recording it (of course), and a long conversation about what exactly it was,....we determined it was an oxygen tank of some kind and then proceeded back to our seats to watch. Shortly after returning to our seats and our conversation, we were interrupted by a loud explosion and flaming pieces of debris flying through the air!  I tell you what...I don't think I have ever moved so fast in my life!! My fellow comrades can attest to that one! I had managed to flip myself and fly across the trailer we were sitting on, landed on the ground, and army crawled away.  All in less then 2 seconds (according to one lad)! Anyway...we had a lot of good laughs about the whole thing.....for several days.  I also had a couple bruises and some soreness that served as a reminder for awhile. :)

The culprit
